There is no doubt about it that in the most recent years, online training has grown massively. Think of any type of training course, and chances are there will be an online equivalent for it now. But will online training replace in-person training completely? Or, in this technology-based global society, will online training completely take over?
What do you think? Will online training replace in-person training?
Differences Between In-Person & Online Training
So to understand if online training would be able to fully replace in-person training. Let’s first understand the differences. To see where priorities may be.
Group Training or Individual work.
One of the biggest differences when looking at online versus in-person training is the number of people that will participate. Online training will never really be in a group set up. Sure, there might be an online network that is being created as part of the course. Or video calls and group chats happening. But that cannot fully replace the interaction people will get in a group training course.
Of course, in-person training can be both individual or group training. But online training really will mostly be an individual task. The community and connections an in-person group can create is extremely difficult to recreate online.
Your Own Timeline VS Set Dates
This is a big difference again. An in-person training course will always have set dates. Whether these are pre-agreed with a private trainer, or set dates of a group course. Whereas most online training courses can be started as soon as you buy them. So you are completely in charge of the timeline!
Where To Take The Course
Location is another big difference. When opting for in-person group training, the training provider will have a venue they use for training. Even if you book a one to one training course, chances are you will be using a venue provided by the training academy, or maybe your work location. whereas for an online course, you are able to do this from home. Or wherever you are as long as you have a solid internet connection and a laptop.
Which Is Better? Online or In-Person?
Now we understand the main differences, we can try to understand which option might be better. Or can we? If we have learned anything from the above, is that different setups work for different people. It is important to understand if one training is better than the other. When deciding if online training will replace in-person training at some stage.
Some people simply take in information much quicker and better when they work on their own without any distractions. Others need the actual commitment of a set course date to make sure to attend and complete the course.
People who are eyeing up a training course on the other side of the world will love the option of online training. To be able to work with certain trainers or a certain brand.
Whereas others would prefer to experience nice teaching locations. Have physical contact with their trainer and have that socialising aspect too.
So the truth is in the middle. Is one better than the other? It depends on who you’re asking. And what they are looking to get out of a training course. Some setups will be perfect for one person, and not at all for the other!
Will Online Training Replace In-Person Training?
So to come to the conclusion and to answer the question of the article. Will online training replace in-person training altogether? At this stage, it’s unlikely. Will online training grows more and more, and potentially dominate the market? Potentially, yes. As a society, we are moving everything more and more online. So it makes sense that training courses follow that same line.
But in-person training will always be something that will be valued. And needed, in some cases. So both online and in-person training courses are here to stay for the foreseeable future!
