Make sure living in is indeed the right thing for you. Find out the best ways to efficiently find live in housekeeper jobs. And what kind of salary you could expect!

Why a Live In Housekeeper Job

There can be lovely benefits to a live in housekeeping job. You will no longer have to commute to and from work. Your accommodation will be covered, and you can potentially build up a close bond with the family you work for. However, it is not suited for everyone. Therefore you start applying for jobs and getting your CV out there, make sure you know that a live in housekeeping role is the right thing for you. There are many different types of housekeeping jobs. Many people will look for part-time housekeepers, full time live out housekeepers, and even weekend-only housekeepers. So if you are specifically looking for a live-in role, make sure you are clear on what this may mean.

Living Alone?

Firstly, are you living alone? If you have a family, children or pets, it will likely be extremely difficult to find a suited live-in housekeeper role. Families, generally, would not be able to accommodate anyone else but you. So if you have anyone else you live with, even if this is a pet, you might want to consider live-out options only.

Are You Ready To Move?

Secondly, when you are looking for live in housekeeping roles, are you ready to move, from where you are now? Will you like living in a house with the family you work for? Do you like a lot of privacy and your own large space? Or will you be happy in a room with an en suite. Perhaps you might be sharing meals with the family, or at least using their kitchen. So are you happy to share? You also want to consider visitors – many families might not be happy with you having guests come over, for a visit or stay. So again, think about your life and lifestyle outside of your working hours, and make sure they match!

How To Find A Job

There are several ways you can find a job as a live in housekeeper. Some ways may be more efficient, or effective than others. So it is important to know the different options so you can choose the right route for you.

Using Your Network

A first option is to see if you know anyone in your network who might be looking for a housekeeper. If you are already in the industry, you might have some connections via previous households you have worked for. Or perhaps you know other housekeepers who will know of jobs coming up. Even though this option might work for some people, it will be difficult to find a job via recommendation if you do not have many years of experience, or if you are, for example, moving to a new area.

Online Platforms

Another option is to get your CV out there on online platforms. There are many job websites available nowadays where you can upload your CV, and you can look at social media platforms like Facebook who have specific job advertising groups for specific areas and industries. Again, you want to make sure you are careful with what you put out there. Don’t put too much personal information on a public CV, if you send it out to lots of different websites. If you are speaking or in contact with someone directly, then of course you want to make sure they can reach you. But you do not have to put your full address, for example, on your public CV!

Use An Agency

Another option to find a new housekeeper job is it use an agency. This is by far the most straightforward option to use, as a reputable agency will know their clients and the type of jobs. They will be able to judge and advise whether the job is suited for you, and help you throughout the whole process. An agency will be able to help you from application-level through to job interviews and helping you understand a potential job offer. Find a good agency, and they can help you throughout it all!
