Do you know the differences between online and in-person training? Are you not sure which option to go for? Or which option might be the best one for you? Before you decide, find out the differences here. And then see what matches best with your expectations!

So, what are the differences between online and in-person training?

Group Vs Individual

Do you like meeting new people, and working alongside them? Or do you feel you learn best when you are alone and can focus on the study material individually? This will make a big difference in deciding whether you should go for online or in-person training.

In-person training can be in a group, or in a one to one setting with a trainer. Either way, you will be with at least one other person doing the studying and learning. And some people love this! Some people love the social aspect of group training, or connecting face to face with a trainer. And the networking that comes with it.

However other people know that they will be able to learn more individually. That they will be able to focus more when it is just them and their study material. If you feel insecure or uncomfortable in groups or with meeting new people, this can be a factor too.

During online training, you will get all the same content as your in-person training, only without contact with other people. So have a think about what suits you best before you make a decision on what training to go for.

Flexible Vs Set Dates & Times

One of the biggest differences between online and in-person training is when the training will take place. When you would opt for a group or even a private training course, a set date and time will be agreed upon. When looking at group training, you will be given a list of available training weekends to choose from. Working one to one with a trainer will give you more flexibility in choosing your training dates. But you will still be set up with those exact dates once they are agreed and booked in.

So if you know you need to have a lot of flexibility, then maybe online training might be a better option for you. With online training, you can completely decide for yourself when you want to start, follow, and complete your course. Most online training providers will give you several months to complete the training. So that means you can pause, stop, and start whenever you want. According to your schedule and timeline.

If you, however, need the motivation of set dates, to complete a course, then in-person training might be best for you. Once you have booked the course for the set dates you know you will be committed. You will make the time free in your diary and know you will get the training completed on those set dates. Without having to motivate yourself to continue, or finish the course.

On locations Vs Your Locations

Another one of the biggest differences between online and in-person training is the location. If you would opt for in-person group training, the training provider will have a venue they use for training. Even if you book a one to one training course, chances are you will be using a venue provided by the training academy, or maybe your work location.

This might be a positive for you. If you like visiting a new place, in-person training might bring you to a very exciting training location. With potentially the chance to travel to a part of the country you never visited or even a completely new country.

Travel, however, is time-consuming and costly. If accommodation is not including in your training course – you will have to calculate those extra costs for it too. So doing an online course can save you time and money. As with an online training course, you will be able to take the training where ever you want, as long as you have a laptop, computer and internet connection.

It will again come down to your preferences. Some people enjoy going to a specific location for a course. It can help you focus and get into the mindset of the training more. However some, actually prefer to do their training from the comfort of their own home, cutting out travel time and cost.
