Are you looking into new training courses, but are not sure about online training? It might at the moment be the only option for you to do, as travel or group training might not be available. But there are many misconceptions about e-learning training courses. With some people wondering if they are even real! Time to look at what E-learning courses really are, and how they can be suitable for you.
What Are E-Learning Training Courses?
An e-learning training course simple is a training course that is offered online. This could be instead of being offered as an in-person training. Or it could be a training course that is fully especially designed for online usage only.
E-learning courses have been existing for quite some time now, but in the last year, they have really skyrocketed. With technology advancing even further too, online training courses are now also better and easier access for more people.
It also means that more different types of training courses can be offered in online versions too. It is no longer the case that theory-only courses can be done online. Nowadays, many more practical courses have a space in the online e-learning sector too. With the help of video’s incorporated into e-learning courses, it opens many possibilities. Especially to showcase, and for students to view and practise more practical skills too.
Are They Real Training Courses?
There are many people who feel that e-learning online training courses do not count as real training courses. If you might have done many training courses face to face, you know how intense a training course can be. Sitting with a group of students practising, learning from each other and the trainer. It can be a very different experience from doing an e-learning course, on your own, online.
And yes, e-learning is different from in-person training courses. You will not have the group feeling and the structure that the trainer will provide for you. Online training will require a little more self-motivation. As you can stop and start the course whenever you want. Unlike an in-person training course, where you will just have to follow the pace of the course the trainer will set for you.
You Are In Charge
This can both be helpful, or difficult. You might like the idea of following the structure of a set-out course. But on the other hand, online training courses will give you so much more freedom. You are not bound by specific days or times. It means you can start when you know you have time, and when you can focus. You can take your time and go slower if you feel you need to go back over things. And finally, you are in charge of the pace of the course which can give freedom to many people.
Check The Training Provider
So coming back to the issue of whether E-Learning courses are real training courses. It all comes down to the training provider. Are they a reputable training school? Have they put out other training courses before, or only these online training courses? Can you check to see who the course trainers are. What is their background, what is their experience?
Also, see if you can chat with the training provider if you are not sure about the e-learning training course. Can you actually speak to someone, have contact with someone, about the courses? Can they tell you more about it, perhaps let you do a free taster course?
Finally, how is the course graded – will you get a certification? Will you be able to put the training course on your CV? These are all things you can consider. Online training courses can absolutely be full, valid training courses. But you need to make sure that the subjects are covered that you want to be covered. So that you will learn the skills, and gain the certificate you are after.
