Candidate of the month October: Dimitros
Dimitrios is an amazing Carer & Companion, who has been in the domestic staff industry for many years.
What was your first ever job in the domestic industry?
My very first job in the domestic industry was as a Personal Assistant. This was many years ago, while I was still living in Greece.
What do you love about your job?
I love customer service and that is what my job is all about. I spend the day planning, organising, and working hard to deliver exceptional results. I make sure to go the extra mile with the ultimate goal to make people’s life easier.
Any advice for people looking to enter the industry?
Be excited, because you are about to join a world that you can’t imagine! The work experience, the training, and the skills will come. Just bring your good character with you, that’s your ticket.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
I would love to be involved in (non-technical) training for newcomers in the industry, as well as for existing staff. Mindset preparation workshops, real case scenarios, rights and obligations in a residential-private working environment are all things I would like to get into.
What is your advice for any candidate working with an agency like Polo & Tweed?
Trust your consultant, and accept advice and guidance. Make sure you are clear with your expectations. Do not hesitate to ask any questions about the potential role, and let them negotiate your contract. They know way better than us.
Any top tips for your job?
Be an active listener. Make sure you practice empathy, be honest, and communicate effectively by describing the facts. Always keep a positive approach no matter the situation and always wear your biggest smile.
