Find a Property Guardian

For property owners, a property guardian solves a number of aspects when leaving a property vacant for a number of months or years.  Many property developers or owners of multiple properties may choose to leave their property vacant, but this can have an impact on insurance and security for the vacant property.  Clients seem to engage property guardian(s) for a number of reasons, from security, upkeep, deliveries, contractors/repairs and general upkeep.  Clients may look to hire a single property guardian or a couple depending on the size/nature of the property they are caring for.

Typically a property guardian will have a full time or part time job in the area, or they may work from home.  They will be provided accommodation within the property they are caring for (or in an outbuilding), and receive free accommodation with the bills included.  They will also typically receive a gesture of payment towards their service.  Property guardians can be hired for short term placements, but are most typically sought for long term placements within properties which are regularly vacant.

Some clients request that the property guardian(s) work a few hours a week, keeping an eye on security, taking deliveries, letting in and out contractors and being on site.  Others require additional support including preparing the property for the principals arrival (such as housekeeper or driving duties like collecting from the airport).  Property guardian(s) are entirely flexible to adjust to the needs of the individual principal and property

 

How P&T classify our Property Guardians:

Entry level/Less experienced Property Guardians is a candidate with no previous property guardian experience.  They will typically already live and work in the area of the property, and thus be looking for a way to save money and live ‘rent free’ in the area.

Mid level/More experienced Property Guardians is a candidate with some experience working as a professional property guardian.  They may have specific skills in domestic environments such as housekeeping or chauffeuring etc.

High level/Very experienced Property Guardians is a candidate who have had at least five years or more working as a professional property guardian.  They will have specific skills in domestic environments such a housekeeping or chauffeuring etc and have demonstrated long term placements on their CV history.

 

Contributions you would expect to pay:

Property Guardians are not typically paid ‘salaries’ as they are not working part time or even full time for you.  Instead they will receive (along with accommodation and bills covered) a contribution for their services.

Entry Level Property Guardians will expect a contribution of £2,000-2,500 a year (on an average week of 2-3 hours specific work for the property).

Mid Level Property Guardians will expect a contribution of £2,500-3,500 a year (on an average week of 2-3 hours specific work for the property).

High level Property Guardians will expect a contribution of £3,500+ a year (on an average week of 2-3 hours specific work for the property).
